4D – Experimentation and Research

Over the last week I have been researching into the best way to start my 4D project. The idea is to set up cameras within our student house and film for around 1-3 days of all the action which goes on in our house.
The main idea behind this is to gather all the information from these few days and experiment with the content, looking at people’s behaviors and working with the different times of the day and the busy areas of the house.
I have also started taking screenshots of where I would like the cameras to be placed in the house, but also looking at the best or most sensible way of getting the idea into production; wither using webcams to feed to a computer, or using many video cameras and ripping the data after the filming.
The end product will hopefully show a range of different aspects to the film, such as how busy rooms and areas are around the house at certain times of the day, how each space is occupied and used throughout the day, but also showing the behavior aspect of my house mate and possibly visitors.

included in the next couple of posts show my experimentation with still images of the rooms i may use within our house to film, check them out, there a few funny ones in these too.

The Start of a Journey

I have decided to add a map of plymouth, this map indicates some of the routes i may use for my final project. this journey may turn out to be none of these routes included but will ultimatley create a senario or a narrite to go with the journey chosen, which will make the movie more interesting and build a bigger picture

Lexicon of Curiosities – Attempting an example system drawing

Followingmy production of the banner i have added an example of what i plan to do to demonstrate the space within the journey which i have took.

this will be done across the whole banner and multiple shots of the banner will be added to this blog to show how the space changes constantly whilst moving thorugh a particular journey, but also how sometimes it doesnt.

Lexicon of Curiosities – research & Experimenting

Following our practical last week i have followed up on some of the comments made to me by the lecturer. firstly i decided to do a test route of follow this up with development of this test route.

this test route gave me more ideas and an in depth approch of how the final task may turn out to look like. the teset route is a static version of what i hope to build for my final project, but i have also been looking in to a narrative or a senario for the final project so it has some meaning.

the first of my initial test ideas is a banner showing picture by picture of the route i took, which for now is a starting point and i will continue to work on this banner to develop the space and help me with techniques i could use for my final project

Lexicon of Curiosities – More Exposure Examples

I will be experiementing a lot with effects such as long exposure and many more in my project development and found a few more really nice images of long exposure which i feel will help me in my final project development.

Lexicon of Curiosities – Exposure Examples

I have chosen of few examples of long exposure which deals with the surrounding space and the light. I feel these are really good examples for my research into this project. The first image is very relative to my project as this contains a screen caputre of a film down a road showing the effects of long exposure.

Lexicon of Curiosities – The Unexpected from long exposure

this video i have chosen explains how we get weird and some really cool film when filming under long or short exposure, and how it shows us the effects from the cameras point of view and not a humans.
