the frist place i looked for information and research for my new space idea was on the Think Road Safety website this gave me a range of information which i could include in my video and a lot of things i didnt actually know about the affects of drink driving.

from having my previous meeting with shaun, he gave me a website to look at which is a company called SquintOpera , who are an architecturual design company based in london, this website was really inspirational for help with ideas for my final space project.
amazing use of after effects and a great use of public spaces and a great video that was good inspiration for my driving advert, called Driving with the Jones, which focuses a great deal on driving and filming within a car which is a good focus for my project.

so after a night of filming and testing the cameras on night mode this is what they came out like, to my disappointment not very well, the night mode on the camera was quite poor and didn’t work at all really, so i have planned to re film it, possibly a bit earlier in the evening so it is not too dark.
i will hope to film this at a bit better quality hopefully with a night mode camera and again hopefully get some good content which i can actually use.

so i finally thought of an idea process for my 4D project, and on saturday 31st january i gathered up all my lovely friends to help me film in the city centre. the aim fo the filming was that all of us could film the same area, and the same circumstances to gather real time video, which worked pretty well and i got a lot of different qualities of video from each phone recording.

so i got home and ripped off all the film i had from the night journey which i was going to use for my project, but only to find that the small cameras that the arts faculty provided me were not capable to film in night vision mode.
the frame rate on the videos was so slow and very jumpy , which wasn’t what i was looking to get, so AGAIN i will have to refilm and hopefully after the third time of trying i will get some decent footage.

so today was the day i started to plan my build for the parts of my space project. so far i have been to the scrap yard and puchased a car, i will only be using one as the chairs themselves are extremely heavy and with two would be impossible to carry to uni.
the frame itself which will hold the car in place will be made from a strong metal peice which will hold the seat in place and create a firm structure for people to sit in when viewing the film.
the chair cost me £10, which i thought for a student was a rip off, i tried to bargain with the lady at the reception of the scrapyard but she was having none of it. so i paid up the money and got this chair out of the car in the yard.
the plan for now is to gather all the material first and draw up plans of how i want the seating area to be designed and built so wont be finished for a few weeks yet, more pictures will arrive.
at present i am still looking for the best way to film from 3 points and still need 3 machines, 3 projectors and 3 screens to complete the installation. but for a sneak preview below is the seat i brought this morning and which will be placed within its framed and used as the main seating area in the middle of my installation.

so its now 9.40 am ish and im up and ready to start building my seating area for my space project. so i am off to get material including cars seats x2, wood, cavases and all the nails and screws to fix it all together.
but first it is time to eat some breakfast then off to the scrappy to see how much they want to rip out of my bank account.

i want to aim my project around the style of the orange advert “i am who i am” and its technical values. i want to recreate the similar stlye used in this video by have videos playing on multiple screens while the viewer is placed within the video.
i will be constructing a seating area which i will place between a set of screens which will play the selection of videos. i want to create a very strong immersive feel for the viewer when taking part in my installation, the video below will give you a rough idea of what i want to create.

to help with the building and creation of my final project i have been researching the sorts of styles and content used in previous drink driving and drug driving avdverts in the uk and also in other parts of the world.
the videos i have added to my blog are from a range of different ways of getting certain messages across to people who drink drive.
these videos will help me in the production of my final peice.
