Dome & Split Screen

To make my project the best it can be i plan to impliment a display device that will create an very interactive immersive experience for the users. these 2 i plan to either user are a set of projector screens which i will prepare and build myslef to save costs and university demand, or either project my project onto the dome within babbage 213 , and use my chair to create an all round exerience when projected onto the dome.

at the moment these are both options i am considering to use and at the moment still considering the best option to use for my project

Space – The music to my project

for my project i plan to add some sound to accompany the video and the whole experience of my project, this music will be create by me, most probably using apple garage band where i can experiment with different types of musical effects for the type of project i am presenting.
I will first critique some of the older adverts to understand the relationship between the actual video and the music and the music which isn’t played.

i want to incorporate the changing of music through the car journey in relation to the interaction of radio within the car, for example the speed and tempo of the music will change throughout depending on where they car journey is in the film and the environment levels and so forth.

Space – Narrative Idea

Following on from my initial ideas of a storyboard/narrative I have now extended the plot of the story so here it goes……

The main idea the narrative is subject A, the boyfriend is supposed to be meeting subject B, the girlfriend at the train station as she is on her way back from university for Christmas. The girlfriend has told the boyfriend that if he is late there will be trouble, as he is renowned for his drunken antics and being late, and also not even turning up to things he should.
But, the night before the boyfriend was invited out for an end of term party and drinks session, so he couldn’t say no but he only planned to go for one or two, but as you know; being a student you end up getting absolutely trolleyed.

Because of the boyfriends crazy antics the previous night he is awoken by a lot of missed calls and text messages from the girlfriend to let him know that she will arriving at the train station in 5 minutes and to be there.
As he is still in bed, and probably still drunk he rushes around to find his phone and get ready, jumping in the shower, missing breakfast completely, having a quick cigarette and on his way to make it to the station in the quickest time possible jumping into the car and speeding towards the train station.

From jumping in the car it will now take around 20 minutes to get there so he is now in a bigger rush, on route to the station, he receives a few text message asking where he is and how long he will be by the girlfriend, after a while you can tell that she is getting a bit agitated that he is not there on time as he is known for being late to everything, as the drink the night before didn’t help.
The journey is the main focus of the project, focusing on my 9 canticles in the car journey to the train station but also showing his panic and worry that he is late once again, and the consequences that will follow once arriving at the station.

From arriving at the train station, he tries to ring the her a few times and keeps getting cut off, he tries to text but this is ended with a text back say that the relationship is over, and that she has left the train station and gone to a friend’s telling him to speak to her when he is ready to be a proper boyfriend.
So the morals of this narrative is to not drink heavily the day before the girlfriend is coming home, the consequences of his actions backfired the day after.

Space – My Site – Site ideas

so on to my site, for a while now i have been trying to decide on a site which covers a good narrative. after being told that it would be a better idea if my journey had a narrative stucture to it, i have been finding it a bit difficult to come up with a really good narrative for the journey.

Some of the ideas i have come up with so far are: –

* meeting a loved one from the train station……

this idea covers the journey from place A to the train station to meet a loved one for the first time in a long time (6 months say) the ideas within this journey are to show that the person picking the loved one up from the train station is running a little over schedule, so the person is in a bit of a rush. the consiquences of the lateness back fire when once arriving at the train station he recieves a text with a very personal and upseting message which results in a dramatic ending to the couples love affair and other sequence of events which happen due to the text message.

Idea Proposal – initial ideas

The relation to my project from the text of “design trends” is not a very strong one, but still has some references to do with the space around an object, and the space which can’t be seen but can be represented in many forms.
As my project is more to do with film I found it hard to relate a lot to this article, but it does have references to the environment of humans and a technical environment relating to the moving car which I will be using in my project.

The initial ideas for my project will relate to the specific things such as natural environment, which would be the view of the outside would from the car which I am filming within.
Human environment which would be the filming of the whole short film where the human environment would change depending on the time of the video, and technological environment, would relate to the way the short film would be filmed and the software and hardware I would use to do this

The idea
The idea for my Space project is to show how the time of the day and the angles we look at video and film determine the space around this and the territory of the surrounding space.
The idea is to use video recorders placed in the back, front and possibly sides of a car, which I will use to take and film 3 identical journeys from home to the city centre. The idea from this is to create a short film showing the same journey taken at 3 different times of the day hopefully showing the viewer the concept of the space and time at different stages of the day, showing the space in and agile form that we don’t normally see at these certain points of the day.
I will plan to film at 3 different stages of the day; these will be early morning, around lunchtime, and late at night, to show different spacial awareness’s at different times of the day but also showing how the time of the journey can determine the space around the journey.

I think this idea relates a lot to the space module as it will show (once completed) the space around objects and humans that most people don’t really see in the small vision world that a lot of people live in on a daily basis.
I hope once finished that this video will put across a message to the viewer showing the aspects of these different and changing environments at different times of the day, but also show how these environments change, or stay the same without anyone realizing that they are.
